Pastoral Services

Spiritual (and religious) well-being is associated with improved quality of life. Research shows that spiritual or religious beliefs and practices promote a positive mental attitude that may help a patient feel better and recover more quickly and easily.

Pastoral care services offered at UM/Sylvester include spiritual counseling and support, and pastoral resources including community clergy referrals and special holiday prayer services.

In addition, the onsite, nondenominational Jill Selevan Chapel offers an inviting place for prayer, reflection, and services. The chapel is located adjacent to the lobby of the University of Miami Hospital and Clinics (UMHC) and is open 24 hours to the community.
